Thanks to Stevo's Buffalo Suckeyes losing on Monday night, along with him graciously paying me off via Stars transfer, I did a little experimenting for shits and giggles at the poker tables last night, and decided to try something totally new: Play 6 SnGs simultaneously, since I have never tried more than 4-tabling.
And while many of my stories/posts have happy endings, let's just say the results of this experiment didn't go so well. 2 7ths, 1 9th, 1 4th, 1 5th, and 1 whoppin' 3rd place cash....yay! $7.20 of buy-ins got me a whoppin $1.80 back.
Couple of things that I observed here, even if I already knew them beforehand:
1) Making multiple decisions at the same time in limit-based games are infinitely easier than doing so in PL/NL games - which is why playing 4 tables at a limit based Stud/Horse game is much preferable to me than it is playing 6 NL tourneys.
2) The players who play the $1 buy-in are truly donkeys and fishes. Don't tell that to the players who cracked KK and AK after post-flop bluffs that seemingly went awry hit their miracle hands, however.
Guy in MP with 3-2 calls a re-raise by me, then jammed post-flop on a 10-high board...runner-runner 3's give him trips to win on first hand.
2nd hand saw Q-4 SOOOOOOOOTED in BB come over the top of me after I hit two pair on flop...runner-runner clubs knocks me out. I should mention that at the time (I finished 5th) he had me outchipped by 30 chips, and we were both massive chipleaders here...idiot!
3) The game still seemed to slow down considerably once we got back down to 4 tables versus playing 6 - so there is hope for the "4 SnG at a time" goal, whereas now I will only play 2 of them simultaneously.
This is the quandray of trading in a few % of ROI for increased actual dollars of profit and faster bonus clearing, alas!
